The politician I would be - (Part 2)

This is a continuation of the previous blog (part 1)

Even though his accent and way of speaking Odia is criticised by many, he has been able to make a connection to the people of Odisha through hearts and good work. His style of removing senior officers and even powerful minsters from their post as well as their party in case of a serious allegation and basic investigation has fetched him a great name – Mr clean. In a country where politicians love showing off, where our PM has bought two new fleet of SUVs which costs the public crores and the Congress and BJP spends lakhs on a posh car, he still goes around in his very old Sx4. His very own minister use Innova and bureaucrats use Ciaz and Scorpio.

After setting up the base of the state, he has been able to carve out a beautiful sports tourism destination in the state. Events such as Asian Athletics Championship, Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup and Commonwealth TT have bought Odisha in front of the global audience. The statement from all the organisations have always been the same- the pace at which Odisha government approves or rejects proposals and the pace it works, is why they like it.

A Rs 5 meal counter for all, where even the bureaucrats and minsters have to eat on official tour was a great step. I am no sure no other CM can say that you will be given Rs 5 as reimbursement for lunch at tours.
Cycles for girl child education, laptops for meritorious students, incentives for inter caste marriages, KALIA scheme for farmers, pension scheme, the modification of Shree Jagannatha Temple and Lingaraj Temple the list of wonderful initiatives goes on. The department of 5T is a golden opportunity for general public to say the truth. The government officials who were slow are afraid of being suspended and being forcefully retired, something which Naveen will not think twice before doing if allegations are found.

A man without family, he admits publicly of spending his time over Netflix. He visits Puri once a while as an devotee of Mahaprabhu Jagannatha. He has two dogs and he spends time sitting with them looking over his garden, another passion he has. He had even sanctioned 54 lakhs for feeding all street animals during the Lockdown since there were no humans to feed them.

When I will be given a choice to be a politician, I would be Naveen Pattnaik. Infact I have represented him in Youth Parliaments and I love to do that. A man who sarcastically replies to BJP, admits the Congress is nowhere in the scene and proves almost all exit polls wrong and gain 2% extra vote share when the country is going through Modi wave. A man that connects to all: from youth to old age people, farmers and rural India, he is one unique man. Infact the way he handles media, speaking sarcastically or speaking as least as possible is something politicians in India should learn from. The only problem that arises is who after him, considering there is no proper successor. If he doesn’t announce, or at least indicate one, the party might break down. Apart from that, what a fantastic man he is!
