Hindi film industry undermines ground duty staff of Armed Forces

We have all watched various Hindi movies around the armed forces over a period of time. We have seen the movies impart the feeling of patriotism in the movies. It glorifies the life of a soldier and the importance the job carries. But have you noticed, that in some of the movies, a posting as ground duty staff or administrative staff is shown as a needless and an inferior job? I have wondered it many times, but with no proper answer.

The ground duty staff, administrative staff, and technical staff are very essential. In fact, the very preparation, maintenance of the base, of records, and management of all the people working is a lethargic task. But we simply never show that amount of importance to them. I will take a recent example of a movie called ‘Uri: The surgical strike’. When the Company Commander of the rank of a Major was posted at the Armed Forces HQ, it was shown like a less important job. His teammates and unit would speak to him in a manner as if he is going to do something insignificant. I don’t think it was right for them to show it in such a manner. The importance of those files does not need to be explained.

I understand the fact that the ground forces aren’t tasked with to face the wrath in case of a fight. I understand that a lot of decorations and medals criteria are designed to serve the people who fight in the front and less for technical staff, administrative staff, and ground duty staff. The importance of all the staff is equal and without the services of any of them, the functioning of the system of armed forces won’t be possible.
