The Automotive Industry: Never fails to amaze
In the 70s, people thought that there will be flying cars by
the beginning of the 21st century. Turns out it hasn’t, but it
hasn’t disappointed the old-school, as there are lots of gimmicks provided with
the automobiles currently prevailing in the market. Despite there are many
inventions made in the automobile industry, a fair share of the technicians is
trying to perfect and make the existing technology or facilities better than
before, such as GPS, parking assistance, 360-degree camera assist, etc.
Recently, German automakers Audi made an off-road SUV with a drone as its
visual assistant, providing them with an aerial view of their surroundings. Also,
Mercedes-Benz made a 55-inch MBUX Hyperscreen for their all-new electric SUV
EQS. The interesting fact about this technology is that it has an 8-core CPU
with a 24 GB RAM, which is a specification that is not available in the majority
of the laptop pcs available in the market. Also, Renault is coming with an
all-surface air conditioning system where the majority of the interior surface
has air conditioner vents, which doesn’t look like one. The automotive industry
is becoming cooler every day.
Another interesting thing is that the people of the late 20th
century had certain notions about the design of future cars or the cars of the 21st
century. So, in order to show that to the common masses, carmakers such as
Citroen, Ferrari, Renault, and Jaguar launched certain cars with ‘innovative
designs’ which they saw as futuristic through global motor shows to make people
aware of how the cars in the future look like. But none of the cars of our era
doesn’t resemble with any of those (except some Lamborghinis and Jaguars). Now
engineers are coming up with unique designs that deal with better aerodynamics
and handling. For sports cars, the design is everything, as it allows them to
cut through the opposite wind force easily with larger speeds achieved in less
time. Companies such as Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Pagani, Apollo, Lamborghini, etc.
take months to design a car to make it near perfect. Like the Hyperscreen of
Mercedes-Benz EQC I mentioned earlier, the infotainment system is an important
factor of the cars of this era. They are helpful in navigation, assistance,
mode of driving, control of acceleration components, and even the entertainment
system. Lamborghini offers cars with interiors that look like the cockpit of a
fighter jet, with the launch button exactly like that of one. Apart from
technology, automobiles have also amazed us with the elegance, royalty, and
legacy. Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Lexus are some
examples of these. You can find a particular sense of comfort and satisfaction
by getting in one of these. It is the way that these cars are crafted that makes
them elegant.
Every day, by surfing through the internet, we can get hold of
new concept models of various automobile companies. Mainly through YouTube, the
official channels of each and every automobile companies are updating us with
their new projects, and what the minds behind these projects want to tell us.
Even if it’s because of the competition among them in the global market, they
are coming up with unique and interesting innovations, that make their products
appealing to the masses. The dedication that goes behind these should be
appreciated very well. And like always, through various methods – whether it be
the design, the technology, or even the symbol that particular automobile
stands for, we all can say that the automotive industry has never failed to
amaze us.
