Biggest disruption in last 10 years - Memes
There are many things that can be categorised as huge
disruptions in the last 10 years. There has been a plethora of ideas that has
come in. But for me the biggest disruption in the last 10 years is Memes.
Taking reference from an element of any relatable song, lyrics, movie scene,
dialogue, or anything that had garnered wide audience, and to put in a context
that you want to use is meme. The funny pictures and videos, mostly drawn in
reference to pop culture, have the whole world sharing and making them. Memes
have been an element that has changed the way people use social media.
Conversations and expression of feeling takes place on better on this. It has
also changed how marketing is done. Every platform we go to, have wide usage of
this. References used appeals to everyone, especially to the youth. Dialogues
from OTT or a famous song lyric or a video that just went viral the ‘connect’
factor kicks in. Brands such as Zomato, Big Bazaar and Durex use it
continuously to communicate and they are gaining quite an amount of buzz.
Mirzapur as a series got a lot of attention before the release through. Not
only in Digital, those things being printed over hoardings are also working
very well.
