24 hours is not the same for everyone
People often
ask one who doesn’t match up that everyone has 24 hours, why can someone else
do it and why can’t you? I never understood that statement. I understand that
the total time available with them is the same. But the daily rituals to
complete and time consumes, along with the facilities available isn’t the same.
Imagine the
24 hours of three characters, one a GM of a Bank as X, compare that with a man
of the same age, probably 50 who runs a small shop as Y and then another one
who is 50 and is a head clerk at a government office as Z. The salary of X is
thrice than that of Z, and double than Y’s maximum income.
X has an accommodation paid for by the bank, a car with a driver and, domestic
help to help them. He also has all modern facilities such as an automatic
washing machine. He doesn’t have to look up to the daily chores of the house.
(all assumed)
Y for that matter might have very limited facilities. He might have an old
washing machine, a small house with not enough place for all to live in. He
enjoys the fact that he has no time constraint as he doesn’t have to report to a
job and hence is easy for him to take up house works.
Z has very small govt accommodation. He has a family but he gets no time to
work for it. Timing for him is casual but he has lots of work, both
documentation and physical. He will not be able to afford help, but won’t be
able to do all work by himself too.
Now if all
of them want to study further, or compete in a competition, they will have so
much difference in the hours they get to spend for studying and then the lack
of availability of facilities will also dramatically affect.
I know it
isn’t a proper or appropriate example, but I hope you get the gist.
Everyone
doesn’t have 24 hours to spend on their work or studies, their added
responsibility, the tasks they face in their daily lives, the atmosphere they
grow up in, all of these plays a very important role. Don’t compare them with
someone else, probably with someone who just works apart from the work. You can
use another way of saying them to complete the task they took in hand, but such
examples don’t help.
